چکیده

The author investigated and analyzed female attitudes and activities in Badagry Local Government Area of Lagos State in relation to sexuality within the family. The study focused upon women because they are believed to bear the bulk of the AIDS burden and they may be an important force in stopping it. 496 women of mean age 34 years responded to a questionnaire in English and Yoruba. 63% were Yoruba, 24% Ibo, 86% Christian, more than 90% were married, 44.9% reported having postsecondary education, and 48.4% were civil servants. The women had a mean number of three children. Their responses are presented in the following sections: attitudes to men's sexual activities, women's viewpoint on reasons for men's sexual behavior, reactions to men's sexual behavior, women's attitudes to their children's sexual behavior, male and female circumcision, child scarification, and implications and conclusions.

Studies 1 and 2 showed that men's (but not women's) gender self-esteem (but not personal self-esteem) was positively rel...
